It is the main street of Yufuin, bustling with many people.Unlike Beppu's glamorous entertainment district, Yufuin Onsen's charming atmosphere is more atmospheric, with streets reminiscent of row houses.
LAKE "KINRIN"
Kinrin Lake is one of Yufuin's representative tourist attractions, and is said to be named by Mōri Kūsō, a Confucian of early Meiji ear, after the scales of fish swimming in the lake, which glow gold in the setting sun. It is said that fresh water and hot springs flow into the lake, and because the water temperature is high throughout the year, you can see the magical sight of steam rising from the lake early in the early mornings of winter.
YUFUDAKE TRAILHEAD
From the main trailhead (Mt. Yubudake trailhead), this course takes you to the east peak and back, where you can climb in relative safety with no chain-linked sections. You can enjoy a varied hiking tour through grassland areas and wooded areas. As you climb the 99-fold trail, the closer you get to the top, the clearer the view becomes, and you can see the northern foot of the mountain and the city of Yufuin in the distance.
AQUARIUM "UMITAMAGO"
The aquarium is located between Mt. Takasaki and Beppu Bay, surrounded by beautiful nature. Visitors can experience "discovery, surprise, emotion, healing, joy, and fun" through fun performances by dolphins and walruses, in an experimental hall where they can experience the mysterious ecology of animals, along with a mermaid hall where they can feel as if they are floating in the sea.
TAKASAKIYAMA MONKEY PARK
On Mt. Takasaki you can feed wild monkeys. Many people may imagine a monkey mountain in a zoo, but on Mt. Takasaki, monkeys come right up to tourists in their natural state, without cages. You can see all kinds of monkeys up close, from rather large male monkeys to very cute baby monkeys.
